You’d think this would be a tough one, but unfortunately there aren’t actually all that many good contenders. Baden, despite being in the German section of Switzerland, is mostly populated with uninspired Italian restaurants.
I will have to give it to the Veal Cordon Bleu at Schwyzerhusli:
As you can see, it’s almost a schnitzel. Which isn’t a bad thing. According to others, the pizzas are also really good. But see what I said about Italian food?
Honorable mention: The free hotel breakfast!
Fresh fruit, with assorted meats and cheeses is definitely an improvement over egg-obsessed American breakfasts.
The other picture I have is the fancy fish dish from the Grand Casino in Baden:
A thoroughly adequate, and quite pretty, entry. Though the sous chef thinks the foam looks like I somehow offended the chef and he spit on my food. Didn’t blow me away, though. At the end of the day, it’s fish, potatoes, and asparagus.
Most of the rest of the meals weren’t even memorable enough to get photographed.
